Its hot here

It’s been really hot here.  I mean soul sucking, engery sapping, sweat inducing heat.  Last night it was almost 90 degrees relative heat at 10 pm.  So hot and humid that charlie didn’t even care about his dinner.  All the cat could do was lie on the table, a limp damp sweaty thing and try to look miserable.  Most cats seem to love the heat, but not Charlie.  Poor Elly also does nothing but lie around.  She has figured out that in front of the fan is better than elsewhere and thus she becomes serious competition for the only spot with the illusion of a breeze.

My mother-in-law, Mary, was very mean yesterday.  She called and asked if she could come sleep at my house and enjoy the heat.  After all, we offer a free sauna experience, no need to do anything but lie around.  And then she commented “I am thinking about turning on my air condiitioning.  What do you think?”  Only another couple of days of heat, they promise us.  But those promises seem false when the local weather website has articles on preparing for the Santa Ana Winds.  At least that heat would be dry.

Author: Heres to ART not Cockroaches

Welcome to my life. My life as a mom is changing as the kids grow up, leave home, and build their own lives. This gives me a chance to rebuild myself as an artist, develop a spiritual path, and most fun of all, start going out on dates with my husband. Come here the stories about the small things in life that can make one very happy. Dogs running on a beach, great breakfast dates, kids and their adventures, and my own adventures in this wacky life. I'll share some of my progress in learning art while juggling a full time job as an engineer. And best of all, it's a chance for me to practice writing stories while keeping in touch with my kids. I look forward to hearing from you. Comments, thoughts, and invitations to meet for coffee are all welcomed. Enjoy the stories.
