Last Sculpture Class

Attended my last sculpture class last friday. So by definition, my portraiture of a young woman is done, although…..
1. There are other members in the class hiring the model to come back so they can finish
2. I could join them at these sessions and they would be glad to have me help pay the model fees
3. I can see lots of problems with the bust, part of that is learning how to see correctly.
But there are many good reasons to do another one
A. it’s going to take me 4-5 busts before I get a really high quality model
B. I probably will learn to see better with more practice
C. I want to be able to sculpt men as well as women
So by definition, my bust is done. Here are the pictures:

Don’t know what I’ll do with this bust. Might make a mold. Might let it dry and crack as a decoration in my art area. Might let it get used as a tool to figure out how to make ceramic busts. Or something else. Since I don’t know, it’s still under plastic at the art studio.

Welcome to my life. My life as a mom is changing as the kids grow up, leave home, and build their own lives. This gives me a chance to rebuild myself as an artist, develop a spiritual path, and most fun of all, start going out on dates with my husband. Come here the stories about the small things in life that can make one very happy. Dogs running on a beach, great breakfast dates, kids and their adventures, and my own adventures in this wacky life. I'll share some of my progress in learning art while juggling a full time job as an engineer. And best of all, it's a chance for me to practice writing stories while keeping in touch with my kids. I look forward to hearing from you. Comments, thoughts, and invitations to meet for coffee are all welcomed. Enjoy the stories.
