Quick Notes

The cats were all lurking by their “magical” cat door, the one that get opened in the morning for their exclusive in and out access. When I removed the lock, they all scampered outside. It’s going to be hot today and they had to go check things out before a good midday nap.

I’ve got 69 hours of PTO (vacation and sick leave) saved up. Haven’t had that much time on the books for years. HURRAHH!!!!!

Maggie got a fellowship at Penn State. Congratulations. I’m proud of you.

Liz comes home in a week after completing another school year. That will be fun. Unfortunately she’s not staying long. Instead she’s picking up a car her grandparents are giving her, driving back to Albuquerque and starting a new job at Sandia National Labs. I’m jealous–what a great place to work. Perhaps she can find me a job at the labs.

Kate got the huge art history project turned in yesterday. Was up to 11 pm the night before and spent the entire weekend (when not goofing off) trying to get it completed. All three girls had struggled with this project in AP History. So Last night she went to bed early — a sleep well deserved. She’s only got a few more weeks of school before she has summer vacation. LUcky girl.

And Bob has been doing lots of work with the humane society. He’s been helping with puppy adoptions. Evidently there are lots of really cute puppies available. I love puppies and kittens, but we don’t need another pet.

Welcome to my life. My life as a mom is changing as the kids grow up, leave home, and build their own lives. This gives me a chance to rebuild myself as an artist, develop a spiritual path, and most fun of all, start going out on dates with my husband. Come here the stories about the small things in life that can make one very happy. Dogs running on a beach, great breakfast dates, kids and their adventures, and my own adventures in this wacky life. I'll share some of my progress in learning art while juggling a full time job as an engineer. And best of all, it's a chance for me to practice writing stories while keeping in touch with my kids. I look forward to hearing from you. Comments, thoughts, and invitations to meet for coffee are all welcomed. Enjoy the stories.
