Life’s Akimbo

Do you ever have days where everything seems discombobulated or akimbo. Well today looks like it’s going to be one of those for me and it is barely 7 am. Forgot about my date with Bob and started cooking breakfast — that has become a lunch sandwich. Made a pot of coffee for work and left it on the counter. Will have to go back and get it. Forgot where I was going and ended up at Allen’s Alley instead of Curbside Cafe. Forgot I had pens in my pocket and spent 10 minutes searching my car for one. Almost spent the national park quarter from 2012 on a newspaper by mistake. But I did get Bob an LA Times.

Nothing too bad, but just indicates that life is frantically too busy right now. Today I have to work late, go to a Vista Band Boosters Board Meeting, Do homework, and would like to spend some time with the family. Well Band Boosters won’t happen, that’s lower priority. Working Late has to happen, the robotics competition is on friday and I have to get the security forms put together for the 75 students / mentors arriving at NGC on friday. Homework will happen, I want to do an IRON pour. That means make an iron sculpture, but I have to learn how to carve wax and make something nice tonight. Think it’s time for abstract cats since the realistic one does not look anything like I want it to. Oh well, the teacher wants me to stretch artistically, and abstract is something hard for me.

Bob arrived at the cafe, so time to order breakfast. Have a great day.

Welcome to my life. My life as a mom is changing as the kids grow up, leave home, and build their own lives. This gives me a chance to rebuild myself as an artist, develop a spiritual path, and most fun of all, start going out on dates with my husband. Come here the stories about the small things in life that can make one very happy. Dogs running on a beach, great breakfast dates, kids and their adventures, and my own adventures in this wacky life. I'll share some of my progress in learning art while juggling a full time job as an engineer. And best of all, it's a chance for me to practice writing stories while keeping in touch with my kids. I look forward to hearing from you. Comments, thoughts, and invitations to meet for coffee are all welcomed. Enjoy the stories.

  1. Sometimes when returning to your routine after a very nice vacation and rest, it is difficult to adjust back to normal day to day living. You’ll be back into the routine in no time. Hope the rest of your day went smoothly. Hope to see you again in a couple of weeks.
