A step back in time

My folks live up in the heart of gold country. In fact, there were several claims / mining operations on their farm in the1850’s; rock creek had 1000’s of dollars of gold removed. The land and streams were reshaped by huge mounds of dirt shifted to remove gold. Part of their driveway includes this old fence. While probably not 150 years old, some of the wood pieces could be that old. The barns is certainly at least 150 years old, there are pictures showing it from the early photographs of the ice operations done after gold mining was done.

Yesterday was a cold beautiful day. The sun was shining and mist came up from the melting ice. I was able to get several wonderful pictures of the fence along their road. It’s interesting how different everything looks from the opposite directions.

Welcome to my life. My life as a mom is changing as the kids grow up, leave home, and build their own lives. This gives me a chance to rebuild myself as an artist, develop a spiritual path, and most fun of all, start going out on dates with my husband. Come here the stories about the small things in life that can make one very happy. Dogs running on a beach, great breakfast dates, kids and their adventures, and my own adventures in this wacky life. I'll share some of my progress in learning art while juggling a full time job as an engineer. And best of all, it's a chance for me to practice writing stories while keeping in touch with my kids. I look forward to hearing from you. Comments, thoughts, and invitations to meet for coffee are all welcomed. Enjoy the stories.

  1. Wonderful photography, Robine. Yes, it’s amazing how light and perspective can change an appearance or situation. Hmmmm..is that a metaphor for other things in life? Thank you for sharing these. Enjoy the beautiful environment you are in, both nature and family. See you soon.
