Almost There–36 more hours

VIFT is almost there.  36 more hours and I get my life back.  Hurrah’s!!!!  It’s become overwhelmingly busy for the last week.  Meetings, paperwork, real-life jobs, school, and lots of last minute things.  Found myself on Wednesday calling vendors from work to ask how I was supposed to pay them.  They laughed and we made arrangements to exchange money for deliveries.  So today I get to go to school and await the arrival of little carts, a huge tent, over 1000 chairs, porta potties, food, and lots of other interesting items. Did I mention that it’s started raining, but this morning the sun has now come out.  I hope this means the storm is done or that the next one will arrive earlier. Tomorrow morning rain is expected anyway.

Had a huge all hands meeting on Wednesday night.  Had people laughing as I explained that everyone was working.  You see, if they are not working, then we are not earning money.  And all our jobs are about extracting the five dollars sitting in everyone’s pocket for food.  People are very pleased I’ve been offering 2 for 1 coupons to the broader Vista Unified Community.   For the morning show only; we generally have almost no audience.  Maybe 100 people although that seems high.  Mostly the audience is our own students sent to cheer as their task until needed for something else.  The little bands rarely have audiences.  So the idea that (1) we might provide these bands with an audience and (2) actually sell seats to people is exciting.  Everyone is hoping that the efforts are so good we have to send people out at midday to buy new food.  That’s a problem we will happily solve.  If only the weather cooperates.

Well the to-do list waits.  Need to go buy cookies (bribery), safety vests, and something else I’ve forgotten.  Must not be important.  So more news will have to come on Sunday.  Tomorrow is a long day.  We start with breakfast at 5:30 am.  And I won’t get home until midnight.

Author: Heres to ART not Cockroaches

Welcome to my life. My life as a mom is changing as the kids grow up, leave home, and build their own lives. This gives me a chance to rebuild myself as an artist, develop a spiritual path, and most fun of all, start going out on dates with my husband. Come here the stories about the small things in life that can make one very happy. Dogs running on a beach, great breakfast dates, kids and their adventures, and my own adventures in this wacky life. I'll share some of my progress in learning art while juggling a full time job as an engineer. And best of all, it's a chance for me to practice writing stories while keeping in touch with my kids. I look forward to hearing from you. Comments, thoughts, and invitations to meet for coffee are all welcomed. Enjoy the stories.
